It’s hard to believe it has been a year since we first kicked off the Pimp Your Reports Workshop Series. For those of you who are unaware, Pimp Your Reports is a hands-on workshop packed with tips and concrete techniques for creating meaningful dashboards and reports while applying strategy to overall design.
The idea for Pimp Your Reports originally came from watching Pimp My Ride on MTV™. The premise of the show is customizing a vehicle to reflect the unique interests and preferences of the people who drive them. Likewise, the goal of Pimp Your Reports dashboard and report creation should be about customizing reports for the people who are going to use them. If you want reports that people can act on, they have to be meaningful and if you want to drive action in your company, you have to go beyond canned reporting options and learn how to Pimp Your Reports!
Last year, attendees found the workshops to be incredibly applicable. One attendee from Nature Publishing Group said “I found it [the workshop] useful and I have already started to put what we learned into action. We are just waiting for feedback from the stakeholders.” Another attendee from HBO stated “I found the Pimp Your Reports workshop to be the most useful workshop/seminar I have ever attended.” Yet another individual from Lion Brand Yarn Company remarked on how she “just finished a first draft of a Marketing KPI dashboard for [her] boss using ‘Pimp Your Reports’ wisdom and she [the boss] was pretty impressed!”
Maybe you already attended a session last year where you armed yourself with tips for creating dashboards and executive reports to engage executives and drive action. This year, perhaps you could use a refresher in the aspects of Pimping Your Reports or you know of someone else who could benefit from attending. Well, you’re in luck because the hands-on workshop on creating meaningful reports is back by popular demand and Jennifer Veesenmeyer, one of the highest-rated speakers of the eMetrics conference, will again guide us though Pimping Your Reports beginning in Chicago on May 18th. Additionally, real-world examples used throughout the workshop demonstrate the power of thinking strategically about what you want to communicate with data and how to do it most effectively.
