8 Fun Facts about SWSE14 Locations

As we continue to tour the U.S. for the Stratigent Workshop Series: Empower 2014 with Ensighten, Maxymiser, Observepoint and Opinionlab - it got us thinking about our eight locations and what makes them unique. We scoured the web and found some interesting facts that you might not know about these beautiful cities.

If you want to attend our workshop at any of the cities below, reserve your spot today by visiting, the Stratigent Event Page

1. Minneapolis – Minneapolis’ famed skyway system connecting 52 blocks (nearly five miles) of downtown makes it possible to live, eat, work and shop without going outside.
When we'll be there: May 22
Location: SEVEN Steakhouse

Minneapolis, we like your style! Headquartered in Chicago, we know how unpredictable weather can be, and how difficult it can be when having to go outside in it. We promise that our workshops are all indoors, at the best fine-dining locations actually - so no umbrellas needed!

2. San Francisco – San Francisco Bay is considered the world's largest landlocked harbor.
When we'll be there: June 5
Location: Twenty Five Lusk

A what? We have to be honest here, we didn’t entirely know what a landlocked harbor is so in our quest to provide complete information (and not just on optimization, integration, virtualization strategies) we looked it up! It is a harbor that is virtually enclosed, almost surrounded by land, and has a small entry for vessels to pass.

3. Columbus – The American Federation of Labor was founded in Columbus.
When we'll be there: June 26
Location: McCormick & Schmicks

You’ve got to admire a city that supports hard work! Columbus is as hard-working as they come and that’s part of the reason why we decided to host our workshop there. We know Ohio likes to play just as hard as they work so we promise, our workshops include their own dose of fun (but if the AF of L asks, we’re all working really hard, 100% of the time.)

4. Chicago – The world's first Skyscraper was built in Chicago, 1885.
When we'll be there: July 9
Location: Ditka's Steakhouse

Yes, Chicago likes their buildings tall. If you’re in Chicago, you can visit the Willis Tower (call it the Sears Tower if you want to blend in with the locals) and stand on the glass deck to look down! What else does Chicago boast – how about food & sports? That’s why we’re hosting the Chicago workshop at Ditka’s Steakhouse, might as well blend the two (disclaimer: Ditka’s is not located in a skyscraper.)

5. Boston – The official state dessert of Massachusetts is Boston cream pie.
When we'll be there: July 30
Location: McCormick & Schmicks

Well this just makes good sense! Here at Stratigent, we have a pretty big sweet tooth – just look in our freezer, it’s filled with ice cream. So pie is right up our alley and by hosting our workshop at Boston’s McCormick & Schmicks, we’re bound to sink our teeth into some sweet dessert!

6. New York City – The Big Apple is a term coined by musicians meaning to play 'the big time'.
When we'll be there: August 20
Location: Mortons Steakhouse

The Big Apple, the Big Easy – New York City is known for being well, big. We couldn’t forget NYC on our tour so we are doing it BIG in New York at our SWSE14 workshop. Cue the jazz music, this is the big time!

7. Atlanta – Georgia is the nation’s number one producer of the three Ps--peanuts, pecans, and peaches.
When we'll be there: September 10
Location: McCormick & Schmicks

Who doesn’t love alliteration? Stratigent strives to support serious marketers with strategies to help them succeed! Besides repetitive vowel sounds, peanuts, pecans and peaches are just downright delicious. Ah, we did it again!

8. Houston – The first word spoken from the moon on July 20, 1969 was "Houston".
When we'll be there: October 9
Location: McCormick & Schmicks

The quote is actually - "Houston, Tranquility Base here. The Eagle has landed." We will make sure to say that as we step off of the plane, headed to SWSE14 – Houston for our last stop on the SWSE14 tour!
